FAQ - When do Trips transfer from Dispatch to Trip Interface?

Question: When do Trips transfer from Dispatch to Trip Interface?

Answer:
Trips only move from Dispatch to Trip  Interface files if they meet particular criteria.  The trip must be ended in Dispatch before the Import from Dispatch is run.  If the trip is ended after the import has been run, it will go next time the user imports.  This doesn't just mean that the manifest was delivered, but the trip was ended also.

Trips must be ‘imported’ into Trip Interface to appear there.  To bring the trips into Trip Interface, you must select File, Import Transactions, and check Dispatch current; always leave the dates blank.  If the trip number is already in Trip Interface, that number will not import.  This problem occurs when trip numbers roll back over to 10,000 and there are already trips in that number range that are old (maybe several years old).  If this is the case, then you must purge data to remove the old trip numbers.

There must be a driver assigned - cannot be a carrier.  If you are missing a trip, make sure that driver on the missing trip is not also in your carrier master file with the same ID code.   If so, delete either the driver or the carrier and add back with a unique ID code.

The trip must have a tractor assigned.

Make sure there is point to point miles by state in the Horizon Mileage Master File. Find the specific origin/destination points, and select the Miles/State Info (F8).  If there is no state breakdown of the miles, the import will not create the trip in Trip Interface .  Also, no exception is reported.  You will need to manually enter the trip if it's already gone to Dispatch history or you can use the GT (Get Trip) button on the toolbar to import it.

Be sure that there are no exceptions in Dispatch.  One checkcall exception for a driver could prevent all of his outstanding trips from importing.
