FAQ - Where to Open Credits come from?

Question: How do we end up with open credits on an account?

Answer:

Open credits can be entered in the receipts screen when there is a payment from a customer and there is not an invoice to post it to.  Also if you receive an overpayment on an invoice for ANY amount greater than the balance owed,  the system will prompt you that there is more money to post and ask if you want to create an open credit for this customer. You have no choice but to answer yes and the money gets placed on the customer to be applied later.    

If you want to see the open credits for a customer, select Billing Inquiry from the Billing menu and choose REVIEW invoices for a specific customer OR you can run the AGING REPORT and there should be an open credit for all the customers that have one.
