Question: What is the difference in closing the period and the year? Does something additional happen when you close the year?
Answer:
Closing the period and the year in Freight Billing is very similar.
The difference is that YTD figures for customers (YTD sales and billings, etc.) will be zeroed out when you close the year. This information is stored in the customer master file and appears on the "Review Customer YTD Figures" inquiry in Billing. In order to maintain correct YTD figures, you must close the year after entering all work for this year and before you enter any work for the new year.
