How To - Setup A New or Different PC for Quickbooks Link

Objective: Setup A New or Different PC for Quickbooks Link

Prerequisites: Horizon & Quickbooks installed on PC

Overview:
This typically needs to be done when a new PC has been set up or if an additional PC needs to access the Quickbooks link.

If the PC is not setup for the Quickbooks link from Horizon, possible messages include:

“not successful; please check your company file and & ensure QB is open before trying again”
“Unable to connect to the Quickbooks Company selected: OLE IDispatch exception code 0 from IBizQB”
“QBObject.1: Automatic login access denied. If automatic login is required, the Quickbooks administrator may grant permission through the Integrated Application preferences”

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. In your Horizon directory, locate the folder named qb_setup.  Double-click that folder, and then run the setup.exe inside.  During the setup install, don’t change anything just click Next until Finished.

  1. You can test the connection on the PC by going to Tools, Services, Third Party Links, Quickbooks Link.  Use the Test Connection button.  This can be done in either Billing or Settlements.  If the test does not work, make sure that your path to the Quickbooks company file is correct.  Select it again to be sure.  Then test the connection again.  If it does not work using a drive letter, you may need to enter the UNC path for the Quickbooks company file.

  1. Quickbooks should be in multi-user mode.  If you need to set it to be multiuser, you can do that under File.

  1. Quickbooks should be open to the company that Horizon needs to export to when you test the connection and do the export.

  1. In QB, go to Edit>Preferences>Integrated Applications.  You should see an entry for MTIApplications there.  Make sure it is set to allow automatic logins.

Note: If you have more than one Quickbooks company, you should open Quickbooks for only the company you are trying to export to.  Do not open multiple companies in Quickbooks at once.  Finish exporting for one company then close that company and open the next one.
